Vacancy Senior Business Developer – Ghent


For a rapidly growing microbiome company, we are looking for a Senior Business Developer. This company is a joint collaboration of a specialised academic group and a world player in the microbiome field, which resulted in the development of a cutting-edge technology platform. Their mission is the development and production of live biotherapeutic products to unlock the microbiome’s potential in combatting different disease indications. As the Senior Business Developer, you will be responsible for the expansion of the pharmaceutical segment, in particular in the area of biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics in vitro.


As Senior Business Developer you are a key driver of the commercial success of the organisation. Your roles include identifying and prospecting new leads in the biopharmaceutical industry and turning these leads into customers. During this process, you will make project proposals, discuss these with clients and subsequently close commercial projects. You will also coordinate with the operations team to ensure timely and quality delivery of services. Moreover, you will build unique relationships with clients to retain and increase business over time. To build such a relationship, you should be able to understand the needs of the clients both on a business and a scientific product development level. For this, you will also rely on your scientific background and liaise between the client and our scientific staff. You are familiar on how to sell and close deals with biopharma companies, and you combine this with good scientific insight, care for high quality service level and understanding of requirements relating to pharmaceutical drug development in particular. Since the market you will focus on has a global scope, you will have to travel regularly, both in Europe and internationally. You will report to the Director of Business Development.


For the ideal business developer, we are looking for someone with at least three years of relevant work experience in sales or business development and a strong scientific background (PhD, MSc). You also have a proven track record of closing deals and growing sales in the pharmaceutical sector.

  • The ability to manage cross-functional projects, relating to the strategic and organisational developments
